My favorite living space trends are perfect for all styles, whether it’s boho, classic, modern, contemporary or a little bit of everything. Here are some trends coming up in 2020, trending living room colors and space decor that will be going strong in interior design.

One of the big hits for 2020, and I predict, the first to fall out of style, is all about organic style and eco-friendly elements with a modern update. For this decor trend, embrace woven pieces, layered textures, a soft, neutral color palette, and some 'brownery' for some serenity in your living space. But unfortuanetly, this style will fade as the monchromatic theme of gray dirt will begin to give way to creative expressions and colors yearning to be free. But, this style gets a nod due to the incorporation of mid-century retro deco inflections. It's fun waiting to happen.

As I state above, mid-century modern is making a big comeback, and in exciting ways. Much the way original mid-century was a break away from hertiage antiques, millenials yearning to be unique will follow this trend, yet again.

In the beginning, this this architecture will follow a muted palette, but in a few years, colors will emerge to the forefront in playful mannerisms that go beyond the pastels of the OG-MCM. And don't forget the return of metals!

Chrome is returning to the forefront yet again. Bright and shiny, people will take a liking and a Downton Abbey appreciation to the chores of keeping it polished and gleeming. I mean honestly, it's not that much work, and the results are worth it!

Wallpaper makes it's triumphant return, as playful themes emerge for those looking to shake things up. Wallpaper has always been a wonder, linen houndstooth is always a steadfast favorite, but the ease in application continues to make it a favorite.

The beauty of wallpaper lies in its ability to be part of the design. More than just a color, it becomes the palette upon which all other colors mix. It's always been a favorite of rockstars and designers, but the chore to apply and remove was just too much for everyday applications. Well that's about to change!

Notice the statement title of this article, Living Spaces. Not living room. And my favorite trend for 2020, and especially post-COVID, is the outdoor living space. Out door furntiure is ready to step to the forefront now.

Going beyond just a firepit and folding chairs, the trend is to make the outdoor space jump from the all day party place to the backyard cum office so you can sit outside and enjoy that beautiful weather while taking those calls.

As 2018's large seating sectionals equate to the horseshoe sofa, more materials are making their way outdoors. This means more designs to be had, more 'outdoor' materials will take on an Eames aesthic and transform the backyard into the outdoor livingroom.
