About Us

Hi there, and welcome to Postcards From The Net! I’m Chris and that’s Nancy. We love to eat, drink, travel and race! I’ve been driving like a mad man ever since my slot car days. How of you remember those little electric racers scooting around a bedroom floor or taking over the living room when your cousins brought their cars over? Great! My early days formed my frame of mind, and watching all those exotic locations that served as the background for the great races shown on TV. One of my earliest memories was that of the 6-wheeled Tyrrell scurrying through the streets of Monaco. I even remember the model car version I had. That little Revell kit lasted years on my bedroom shelf, but now, it’s just a memory. Thank goodness for the internet being able to find that image and being able to post it here. How cool is that?

Ever since that moment, I want to go there…where ever there may be. I’ve had the travel bug ever since, wanting to see more and being fascinated by the people and things I saw. Whether it’s a pilgrimage to Monaco, a weekend in Vegas, tasting wine in Temecula or Napa or Bordeaux, I just love the adventure of travel. And when I met Nancy, and she shared her travel stories, I knew it was a match made in heaven. Traveling is great, but traveling on your own often becomes a lonely affair. But traveling with your honey, now it’s a party! And that’s what we’ve been having!

We married late in life, but not too late. Since we’ve been together, we’ve touched 3 continents, 9 countries, countless cities, pub, restaurants and the rest, and we are just really getting started. Now I know these numbers may not be a large amount compared to other “travelers”, but to us, it’s awesome. We love visiting major metro areas, not as much trying to find the most isolated destinations. We love to mingle with people, come across new friends, and share stories of relevance to our contemporaries. Now, I’m not ruling that out for next year, but for now, we’re hitting the glitz and glamour of the brightest lights and biggest cities. We want our foodie destinations to meet our racing destinations. We want the flashing lights and splashing drinks. And throw in a little shopping and we’re go to go.

All the photos in the blog are from my phone. I’ve tried taking a camera on trips, but that’s just fitting our plans at this moment. I keep trying to break out the Nikon, but it just never seems to fit in the suitcase after I do my mega packing. But I think my next trip abroad, I will make a serious attempt to do some serious photo journalism. But then, why wait until the next trip abroad, maybe next weekend.

One aspect of my blog I want to bring is an intimate display of what Los Angeles is about. Afterall, LA is a major destination for many people, same as Monaco is for me. Everyone has a “I want to go there”, and my ‘here’ is someone else’s ‘there’. OK, you convinced me. Let’s get out and take some photos and write some stories. Plus, local stories cost a lot less that traveling via air. And I try to show how you can minimize those costs by sharing some free travel tips, such as which credit cards can get you there for no additional cost. Pimping Your Credit Cards shows you how you can fly, stay and drive for no additional cost.

OK, so welcome to Postcards From The Net. I hope you enjoy the views and stories, and are inspired to get out and see the world, or at least realize that the world not much different than your town, and begin to enjoy what you have in your own backyard. If you want to reach out, email us on our contact page, or just drop a comment on any page.

Peace and blessings and travel safe!
